Anna Goetz, About Food and its Political, Social, Ecological and Economic Implications

Anna Goetz, currently based in Mexico City, is a curator and writer with a special interest in artistic strategies that challenge governing societal hierarchies, narratives, and structures. Recent projects as an independent curator include a solo exhibition with Banu Cennetoğlu at K21 Kunstsammlung NRW in Düsseldorf and the group show Stage Of Maneuvers with Alia Farid, Claire Fontaine, Gabriella Torres-Ferrer, Georgia Sagri as part of curated by in Vienna (both 2019). She has initiated major group exhibitions, such as Where do we go from here? (2019) and Casa Tomada (2018), both in Mexico City and co-curated the 13th Sculpture Triennial FOOD – Ecologies of the Everyday (2016) in Fellbach, Germany, together with Susanne Gaensheimer. Her last institutional appointment was at MMK Museum for Modern Art Frankfurt (2013–2017), where she curated and co-curated solo exhibitions by artists such as Ed Atkins, Laure Prouvost, Florian Hecker, Isa Genzken, and led the prestigious MMK Talks program Art&Politics. Parallel to her curatorial practice, she has been writing for various international art magazines, such as Artforum, Frieze, and Mousse, teaching at various art academies and universities, and ran the project space Roberta in Frankfurt (2015-2017).

Anna Goetz, actualmente basada en la Ciudad de México, es una curadora y escritora especialmente interesada en estrategias artísticas que desafían las jerarquías sociales gobernantes, así como en sus estructuras y narrativas. Entre sus proyectos recientes se encuentran exhibiciones individuales con Banu Cennetoğlu en K21 Kunstsammlung NRW en Düsseldorf, y la exhibición colectiva Stage Of Maneuvers con Alia Farid, Claire Fontaine, Gabriella Torres-Ferrer y Georgia Sagri parte de curated by en Vienna (ambas 2019).  Ha curado diversas exhibiciones colectivas incluyendo: Where do we go from here? (2019) y Casa Tomada (2018), ambas en la Ciudad de México; y  co-curado la 13va Trienal de Escultura FOOD – Ecologies of the Everyday (2016) en Fellbach, Alemania, junto con Susanne Gaensheimer. Sirvió como curadora del Museo de Arte Moderno de Frankfurt  entre 2013–2017, posición desde la cual curó y co-curó exhibiciones con artistas como Ed Atkins, Laure Prouvost, Florian Hecker e Isa Genzken, y desde la que lideró el programa de conversaciones MMK Talks Art&Politics. De manera paralela a su práctica curatorial, escribe para diversas publicaciones de arte internacionales incluyendo Artforum, Frieze, y Mousse, ha enseñado en varias academias de arte y Universidades, y estuvo a cargo del proyecto Roberta en Frankfurt entre 2015-2017.
